ISI develop AI tool for Raman Analysis

Posted on: 19/10/2017

See our new article examining how the latest Artificial Intelligence tools can be used, to identify Raman spectra, published in the Royal Society of Chemistry Analyst journal. Not only did the software outperform traditional SVM techniques. It also demonstrated no requirement to pre process of the data before the analysis was completed. A pre print of the article can be found here:

HES Spectrometer Flat Field Correction

Posted on: 13/06/2017

See our latest article discussing flat field correction in our HES spectrometer page.
Flat field correction is a well none technique applied to a variety of spectral measurement systems. Its influence is critical in our HES spectrometers due to the Fourier nature of the device.
Our latest azom article discusses this effect and how to correct in our instruments. This is key for Raman observations when trying to identifying trace species which could be masked by unwanted instrument effects.

First Stage Testing of our Low Cost Products

Posted on: 16/03/2016

In this blog we discuss the advances that we’ve made in our low-cost spectrometers and integrating spheres. After months of development, these products are taking form and functioning well as they near product launch.

The images below show these products connected to each other by an optical fibre.

To investigate the performance of these products we acquired a spectrum of a Red-Green-Blue (RGB) LED. An image of the light emitting from the RGB LED is shown below.

3mm Fibre Compatible Raman Spectrometer, First Demonstration

Posted on: 11/01/2016

Diary of Events Date 12/12/2015
The challenge for this week was to assemble the system specifically the spectrometer. All the parts are now the laboratory and have been confirmed to be in working order. The system will is mounted in an oversized box, so that the experiments can be performed easily.
The sequence of ideal assembly is of course well known, first the spectrometer is aligned with respect to the laser, and this is then imaged onto the detector and a spectra taken.  Finally...

3mm Fibre Compatible Raman Spectrometer

Posted on: 07/12/2015

Diary of an experimental investigation of a new 3 mm fibre compatible Raman spectrometer (HES 2003) This is the first of several blog entries discussing experiments on one of our HES range of the spectrometers. The plan is to provide our customers and supporters an insight into how our innovations are developed at ISI. To show some of the frustrations as well as the achievements when as you develop new products.
Background
The HES range of systems use a static Fourier transform spectrometer...
